Well, I think the warm weather just might be around for good.
This weekend temperatures reached well into the upper 70s and it actually felt hot outside while I was working in the yard...Not the nice yummy spring warmth I'm used to, but an almost uncomfortable heat that reminded me to stock up on sunscreen this spring!
| The clear bags are gallon sized... 4 bags of chard & 2 bags of kale... with all the air pressed out of them. The 2 bags in the back are actual grocery bags filled to the brim with lettuce. |
After pulling all the greens, I cleaned up the new holes in the beds a bit and actually sowed a few rows of corn. It might still be too early, but I thought it was worth a shot...especially if the weather woman is right and we're done with freezes :-) Time will tell! I also planted some bush beans (trio and black) and some soybeans around the bases of our fruit trees, which is new, so we'll see how that goes this year, too!
- Chard = 5 lbs 13 oz
- Kale = 3 lbs 7 oz
- Lettuce 3 lbs 12 oz
- Eggs = 34
Happy harvesting!

....think of all that nutrition!
ReplyDeleteYes! I love to think about all the healthy goodness that comes out of our garden :-) Thanks for popping by!
DeleteWow that all looks great. I wish I had planted some lettuce earlier. Maybe in the fall!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelly! And, yes, there is always next season, right?! That's one of the beauties of gardening :-)
DeleteYou must be thrilled with ~13 pounds of various greens this week. Great harvest!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely thrilled!!! :-)
DeleteWe're thinking the warm weather is here to stay too. Tomorrow was our last frost date last year. It's still kinda scary to plant stuff. Good for you to take a shot at it. I hope you get early corn as a result. Great job this year overwintering greens. It made for a nice early harvesting season!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jody! I really just want to plant everything but am forcing myself to wait! If it doesn't freeze, I should have some succession plantings and harvests to look forward to...if it does freeze, well, I won't loose everything :-)
Deletewe were 96 today; about 4-6 weeks early. I planted some extra early corn already; in fact it's about 4" tall, I should probably plant another go-round. I have a grandson that could live on corn on the cob
ReplyDeleteWow! I can't believe your corn is so big! Amazing!
DeleteA busy week for you all those greens ready for the fridge, great work.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the early corn.
That is a lot of kale, chard, and lettuce at one time! What a bountiful week it was for you.
ReplyDeleteNice haul of greens there. Yep, all my kale and chard bolted, had to pull all of them last week.
