Every morning when I wake up (whether it be by the alarm or by the suns gentle rise behind the Sangres), I make myself a cup of black tea with milk & honey and take a little walk through the garden. I check for growth and blossoms, I harvest, I listen to the soft, sleepy coos of the chickens, I wander...I enjoy a few quiet moments before the day must begin.
Yesterday, while on my morning walk, I noticed that the three radishes I'd left in one of the beds to go to seed were just about ready to be pulled. While not fully ready, a handful of the seed pods had finally dried on what remains of the foliage. Super excited about the tiny, mature seeds, I picked off those pods and brought them inside to clean them.
I'd guess I picked off about 50 pods and got about 200 seeds from those pods. Now, there are still hundreds of pods left to be harvested as soon as they get a bit more crispy, but that will have to wait for another day :-)
Great seed saving! I'm trying to do more and more of that in my garden.

DeleteI'm waiting for kale seed to "get crispy" I let some radishes go to seed this year, but it was more out of laziness than anything else. I won't be able to keep the seeds because I planted two types and I'm sure they crossed.
